Conor McGregor has claimed he is ‘salivating’ at the prospect of fighting Jake Paul after the YouTuber defeated Tyron Woodley on Sunday night.

The UFC star watched on as Paul maintained his unbeaten record after claiming his fourth career victory in as many professional bouts  in Cleveland.

For the first time in his short career the judges’ scorecards were needed as Paul went the full eight rounds but he secured the split-decision victory as they read 77-75. 75-77. 78-74 in the YouTuber’s favour.

McGregor took to Twitter with a simple one-word reaction: ‘Salivating’.

Paul responded to McGregor’s tweet in his press conference, claiming Woodley is a harder fighter than the Irishman.

‘I’m salivating too because I’m just getting warmed up. Conor McGregor has a lot more to focus on besides me right now,’ Paul said.

‘I’m five wins in a row, he’s one in three in the past four years so he needs to get off his vodka or whatever his brand is, sober up and get back in the gym then we can f***ing fight.

‘There’s no way he hits harder than Woodley, he doesn’t weigh as much as Woodley, he’s shorter than Woodley.

‘I said it before the fight, I think Woodley is a harder fight than him, especially on the weight he is going – Conor is going down, I’m going up.’

The 24-year-old has frequently lashed out at McGregor over the last six months.

In July Paul claimed McGregor had ‘lost it’ and vowed to ‘expose him for the fraud he is’ if they ever fight.

The 24-year-old was sent crashing into the ropes but recovered enough to secure the win

Paul, who has relentlessly pursued a boxing match with the Irishman, and even offered him $50million and made crude comments about his wife Dee Devlin in attempts to goad him into a fight, said McGregor is ‘insecure’ and knows he’s not the fighter he once was.

‘You can tell Conor has lost ‘it’,’ he wrote on social media. ‘He no longer speaks from a place of authenticity and you can tell he’s trying to convince himself of his own lies.

‘He takes offence to everything now; he’s bathing in his own insecurities [and] when we fight I will further expose him for the fraud he is.’

Paul initially proposed a showdown between the two last year and doubled down on the idea in July.

The YouTuber told McGregor to ‘take the fight p***y’ in an Instagram message after a £37m offer was tabled for the two-weight UFC champ.

There is no done deal in place for the suggested dust-up as yet but McGregor is clearly excited to face the entertainer in the ring.

However, the Notorious will need to recover from a broken leg before the fight can take place.

McGregor broke his leg during his defeat to Dustin Poirier in July. The 33-year-old has lost three of his last four MMA fights, including two to Poirier.

Paul, meanwhile, has drawn up a ‘hitlist’ fighters he is looking to take on, which includes McGregor, as he plots his way to becoming a boxing world champion.

Other names to feature on the list written on a whiteboard, which he shared an image of on Twitter, include McGregor, Canelo Alvarez, Tyson Fury’s half-brother Tommy and his own brother Logan.
