Conor McGregor took aim at Tyson Fury on social media – before deleting his post as the pair shared some unsavoury exchanges. Fury clearly hit a nerve with the Dubliner after he took to Twitter to praise Khabib Nurmagomedov, who famously dismantled McGregor in the pair’s UFC lightweight fight back in October 2018.
The build-up to that clash had been tempestuous, and the ill-feeling continued after the fight with Khabib, who had forced his rival into submission in the fourth round, then proceeding to climb out of the cage and attack McGregor’s coaching staff.
Members of the Russian’s entourage also got in on the act, further humiliating ‘The Notorious’ by taking swipes at him as he struggled back to his feet.
The bitterness hasn’t settled down since, despite Khabib having since retired from mixed martial arts, with McGregor continuing to sporadically launch verbal attacks on the 33-year-old.
Indeed, he was unhappy last week after ‘The Gypsy King’ praised Khabib, saying he “did it right” because he “got in and won and got out at the top,” in reference to ‘The Eagle’ stepping away whilst considered the greatest UFC fighter in his division.

In response, Mcgregor, 33, slammed Fury for staying ringside and not intervening when the father of Billy Joe Saunders was pushed by security at the Canelo Alvarez fight last year, tweeting “U bottled it with Billy joe Da, what were you doing there?”
Fury hit back with “Come back when u win a fight mush. The difference in me and you is I don’t get myself in trouble and people actually like me, your just a bully.”
He also poked fun at McGregor’s recent losing streak, saying he “has done more Tapping than MJ’s old dance shoes,” followed by multiple laughing emoji’s
And on Sunday, the UFC star wrote another riposte, saying “Oh no people don’t like me what will I ever do hahahahaaha idiot. You are just a little rim licker bro. Thats all.

As is often the case with Mcregor though, he later deleted the post, before the feud took a bizarre twist as he proceeded to post again on Twitter – but this time in praise of Fury.
The Irishman, who hasn’t fought since breaking his leg in his trilogy defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 last July, posted an archived clip of Fury saying that “Conor McGregor is MMA” and claiming he couldn’t name more than three other fighters in the UFC.
“It’s all good, we forget it. Fair play Tyson. God bless ya mate. #mentalhealthawareness,” he wrote.
When Mcgregor will have to let his fighting do the talking again is unclear, with him still in rehabilitation from the Poirier clash.
When he does return, a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz or a fourth fight with Poirier are thought to be the two most likely options.
Fury, 33, is currently negotiating a WBC title defence against Dillian Whyte.
