Conor McGregor, Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul top list of sport’s highest earners
Conor McGregor and Canelo Alvarez make £1million quicker than all of the world's top athletes, a new study has reported.
The combat sports duo topped a list of richest athletes per minute played by a massive amount, with McGregor earning £1m within just 20 seconds based on his recent outings against Dustin Poirier.
He was stopped twice by the American last year, but earned a reported £36.4m for their fights at UFC 257 and 264.
The pair competed for a grand total of 12 minutes and 32 seconds in 2021, which means he would have been earning around £3m for every minute he was in the octagon.
And that record was only even competed with by Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, who got in more than five-times the ring minutes, but earned just under double what McGregor did for the year.
The multiple-weight world champion unified the super middleweight division for the first time by beating Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant, after defending against mandatory challenger Avnyi Yildrim early in the year.
And for a total of just over 63 minutes of competitive action, Alvarez made £65.7m, meaning it took him around 58 seconds to tip into seven-figure earnings in the ring.
The duo were the only two fighters to come close to the top of the list, which didn't include Floyd Maywaether due his only competing in an exhibition bout against Logan Paul.
No winner was declared after the duo went the distance, and it doesn't appear on either man's professional records.
Jake Paul would also come in third place, taking 83 seconds, or just under a minute-and-a-half to touch seven figures during the 43 minutes he competed against Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley twice.
He was supposed to face Tommy Fury on December 18, but instead rematched Tyron Woodley, who he had beaten by split decision in August.

Paul made no mistake the second time around, however, viciously stopping the former UFC welterweight champion in the sixth round of their hastily arranged second bout.
To come to these findings, Mirror Fighting cross-referenced our own rich list with a study conducted by online sports betting platform OLBG that tabulated the time it takes each athlete to reach $1m.
Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback, comes in fourth by our estimations, earning a considerable amount more from his football career, but also competing more often.
He played 300 minutes last year, and took home just under £72m for his efforts, meaning it would have taken him just over three minutes to start tipping seven-figures.
Other athletes on the list included Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Neymar, who interestingly beat out the two football greats at PSG.
Messi defeated Ronaldo to finish two places higher, while Kevin Durant also featured as well as a number of prominent basketball players.
