Chris Eubank Jr will face domestic showdown with Liam Williams at middleweight
Chris Eubank Jr will take on Liam Williams in a domestic middleweight showdown in December as his world title charge continues.
The British star defeated Wanik Awdijan with a routine stoppage on his ring return earlier this year.
He is seeking a return to the world-level stage in a new partnership with promotional label BOXXER and broadcaster Sky Sports.
And his latest challenge has now been confirmed as domestic rival Williams, with the bout set to take place on December 11 at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.
And Eubank Jr is delighted at receiving the opportunity to silence his rival and stake his claim to a world title shot next year.
"Liam Williams has been saying a lot to try to catch my attention and bait me into fighting him," Eubank Jr told Sky Sports.
"It’s now got to the point where everyone is asking me to shut him up, and on December 11, I’m going to give the people what they want.
"As I’ve said, I’m only involved in big fights from now on and this is the fight people want to see. They want to see if Williams can back up what he’s been saying – which he won’t.
"I’m on a mission towards world titles and Liam Williams is someone I’ve got to go through to get there. I’m looking forward to shutting him up."
Williams fell at the final hurdle when he was defeated by Demetrius Andrade in his own world title bid back in April, although he emerged with plaudits after a late assault threatened to disrupt the American champion's mandatory defence.
And he will now have a raucous home support on his side as he bids to hand Eubank Jr a third defeat of his career.
Eubank Jr has suffered losses to Billy Joe Saunders and retired star George Groves but is still confident in his own ability to become a world champion at middleweight.

He is continuing to chase a world title shot against Gennady Golovkin who has been denied opportunities to face in the past.
But his Welsh opponent believes that his domestic rival has not improved during his recent fights and is ready to spoil the party for a resurgent Eubank Jr.
"I'm very excited to get the fight made," said Williams. "It's been coming for a long time. I can't wait to shut his mouth once and for all. There's nothing like a big domestic showdown to get the juices flowing.
"A lot of people have been calling for this fight for a long time. I personally think it’s the biggest all-British fight outside of AJ and Fury.
"I’m really excited and just counting down the days. I’ve not been that impressed with Chris’ recent performances. People are talking about how he’s brought Roy Jones in to improve him, but if I’m being totally honest, I don’t think he’s improved one bit.
"A win in this fight and possibly even a stoppage over Eubank and my name is going to be well and truly out there and in the mix for world titles.”
