Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have finally put pen to paper on the contracts for their lucrative heavyweight showdown in 2021, promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed.

The British duo, who currently hold every recognised world title in the heavyweight division, reached an agreement in principle last year for two eagerly-awaited bouts to take place in 2021.

“We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month,” Hearn told ESPN. “The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper.

"But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters. I actually feel we’ve done the hard part.

“Speaking for myself, Anthony and his team at 258 management, I know how hard we’ve worked hard these last couple of months and I just feel that this fight is so big it’s not a difficult sell."

The location and date of the fights are still to be confirmed, with Hearn expanding on the venue decision.

He added: “We’ve already had approaches from eight or nine sites. The offers have come from multiple countries in the Middle East, from Asia, eastern Europe and America.

“This is the biggest fight in boxing and one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

“It will be a major, major win for a country that wants to showcase itself.”

Fury and Joshua's highly-anticipated contest will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion for over two decades, with contracts signed for the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO heavyweight world title clash.

The WBO have ordered Usyk to face another British heavyweight, Joe Joyce, for their interim strap while Joshua and Fury battle it out for supremacy.

Joshua’s win over Kubrat Pulev back in December finally cleared the coast for him to lock horns with Fury in what promises to be a historic sporting event.

AJ stopped Pulev, who was made mandatory challenger for his IBF strap, in the ninth round of their clash at Wembley Arena to ensure he will meet the Gypsy King in his next outing.

Fury holds the WBC bout having beat Deontay Wilder in a rematch back in February 2020, with the Gypsy King having not fought since that clash.

There had been talks over a trilogy bout with Wilder, though the fight with Joshua has been the one on everyone's lips.

And it seems fans will now finally get their wish of watching the two Brits against one another.
