After the bout, the 47-year-old who is widely considered as one of the UFC’s greatest fighters, claimed his loss was a result of his ‘poor strategy’.
‘I know I lost,’ Silva said in his post-fight press conference. ‘I know I failed in my whole strategy, and my opponent won.
‘I’m not the same as the other guys that fight with Jake, like, ‘Oh, I need revenge. I need rematch.’
‘Let’s see what happens. Maybe. I don’t know.’
The fight was competitive throughout with Paul landing more punches than the Brazilian
Paul has now defeated a roster of big names, including Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley
The fight was competitive throughout, with Paul landing 25 percent of his 336 punches, while Silva was more accurate, making 31 percent of his 251 punches.
It was the black belt taekwondo star’s fifth professional boxing match, and after the fight, the 47-year-old admitted that Paul was the better fighter.
‘Jake was better than me today,’ he said. ‘I tried to put on my strategy… I don’t find my distance, and I failed in my strategy, and Jake was better than me. That’s it.
The win see’s the American extend his unbeaten fight record to 6-0, having added Silva to his growing list of wins, which includes Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Nate Robinson.

‘But I’m human. I’m superhero, but sometimes my half human fail.’

And while he was coy about a rematch with the YouTube sensation, the former UFC middleweight champion was keen to get back in the ring after the bout, calling out Nate Diaz and Canelo Alvarez.
He said: ‘This is just the start. I want Nate Diaz. Canelo [Alvarez], you too.
