Amir Khan is 'NOT ready to call it a day' despite defeat by Kell Brook
Amir Khan is ‘NOT ready to call it a day’ despite brutal defeat by Kell Brook, claims promoter Ben Shalom, who questions why the 35-year-old would want to fight again having already ‘inspired’ next generation
- Amir Khan fought Brook in their highly anticipated bout at the Manchester arena
- Khan was stopped during the sixth-round after trailing the entire time to Brook
- Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom has confirmed that Khan is now considering a rematch
- He says Khan ‘feels hard done by’ after having less time to prepare than Brook

- The promoter says Brook would be better off fighting someone other than Khan
Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom says Amir Khan has no plans of hanging up his gloves yet as he is interested in fighting Kell Brook again.
Khan was stopped in brutal fashion during the sixth-round of his long-awaited bout with Brook in February, having been on the back foot for the majority of the fight.
However, Shalom – who made the fight come together after years of failed negotiations – has said that Khan is looking to activate his rematch clause.
Ben Shalom has confirmed that Amir Khan is looking to get back in the ring with Kell Brook
Speaking to Sky Sports about the possibility of a Khan vs Kell rematch, Shalom said: ‘I think the word on the street is true. Amir Khan doesn’t want to call it a day.
‘He has spent a lot of time thinking about the fight in the last couple of weeks. He had 10 weeks to prepare and Kell Brook had six months to prepare. He feels hard done by.
‘I don’t know whether that fight is even possible but he does have that rematch clause. For me, it’s time for Kell Brook to move on. Whether that’s to retire or to fight someone else.
‘I can’t see it [a rematch] but Amir is convinced. We will hear what his reasons are in the next few days and we will take it from there.’

Shalom says that Khan is ‘not ready to call it a day’ despite being out boxed by his opponent
When asked what he would say to Khan if he was standing in front of him, Shalom said: ‘I would say, you’ve had a wonderful career and you’ve inspired many boxers here.
‘You’ve created a legacy for yourself. You’ll go down in the hall of fame. Why do you need to carry on?
‘You know, he is a fighter. He knows better than me what went on in that ring. He knows what his preparation was like.
‘So, who am I to say what he should do. Whatever he has done, he has had a great career. For me it was probably the right time to hang up his gloves, but he feels very differently.’
Meanwhile, Brook has said that he would be willing to give Khan another ‘whooping’ if that is what he truly desires.
‘If he wants another whooping he can have another whooping,’ Brook told Sky Sports News at the British Boxing Board of Control 2021 awards ceremony on Sunday.

He also said that he is more interested in fighting Chris Eubank Jr (L) or Conor Benn instead
‘It was so one-sided, I don’t know what he can say and come back to the table with. If he wants that rematch, I’ll dust them gloves off and do it again.’
However, Brook has said he is more interested in facing either Chris Eubank Jr or Conor Benn instead.
‘I’m interested in the Eubank fight and the Conor Benn fight. I’m very interested in those fights,’ Brook said.
‘They’re big fights, they’re fights I could definitely get up for and they’re definitely crowd-pleasing fights.
‘I can’t just get up for any fight. I’ve been in the game a long time and having the fights I’ve had, it needs to be something I can get up for, to get the bit between my teeth and really step on the gas in training.’
