Amir Khan branded ‘clown’ for showing off new watch after last one was stolen

Amir Khan was branded 'a clown' for showing off his new Franck Muller watch online weeks after armed robbers were jailed for stealing his last one.

The former world light welterweight boxing champion said he was fearful of going out after muggers stole his bespoke £72,000 gold and diamond encrusted timepiece – made by the same designer – at gunpoint after he emerged from a London restaurant in April of 2022.

His wife Faryal, 32, said since the ordeal – which Amir said left her 'screaming and crying' – she has started taking her jewellery off when she goes out.

Back in July, two of the mob were jailed for a total of more than 17 years after admitting conspiracy to rob and possessing an imitation firearm.

"It’s a limited edition. So it’s the new Pakistan edition Franck Muller. This is number 66. There is only 75 made in the world. What do you guys think?"

One viewer replied: "Don’t get that watch robbed too."

Another said: "And then he’ll get robbed again – what a…" Then added a clown emoji.

"The only people bothered are thieves," added another. One more wrote: "And you wonder why people try and steal your watch."

The robbery took place after the boxer enjoyed a meal at a restaurant in Leyton, east London with two men jailed for a total of more than 17 years.

Khan said in his impact statement: "This has had a serious effect on my life. I am now very fearful of going out – especially in London. I am very scared of walking around London and I have never felt like this before. I know I can fight, but the streets of London are so unsafe and I believe I have become a target.

"I can now no longer enjoy things like shopping. I am constantly looking over my shoulder and am wary of people. Being a boxer in the public eye has made this embarrassing for me, but the man had a gun."

The father-of-three, who now lives in Dubai with his family, added: "I don't feel safe in this country. This has made me realise I am a target. I am reliving this all the time and will find it hard to move on."
