Just six games separate March Madness fans from the Final Four, and four of them will be played today.
The 2021 NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 will finish up with four games, as eight teams fight for the right to move on. If they can’t do it, they will go home.
While yesterday’s games were highlighted by the underdog Oral Roberts and their efforts to become the first 15 seed to make it to the Elite Eight. Today’s games feature more of a power-packed punch.
No. 1 seeds Gonzaga and Michigan are still alive, but they’ll be fighting for the right to advance against a couple of tough teams in Creighton and Florida State. There are also a trio of Pac-12 teams looking to continue improbable runs to the Final Four, as USC, Oregon, and UCLA were all underdogs at one point in this tournament. At least one of them will advance, as USC and Oregon are facing each other in what may be the most evenly-matched game of the Sweet 16.
Will order or chaos reign on this March Madness Sunday? Here’s everything you need to know about the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16, including a full schedule with TV channels and start times.
What channel is March Madness on today?
1. Gonzaga vs. 5. Creighton
Two of the best mid-major teams from the last decade meet in a Sweet 16 clash. Gonzaga boasts the NCAA’s No. 1 scoring offense at 92.1 points per game. Can Creighton find a way to slow them down and keep pace with them? They’ll have to in order to avoid a blowout.
1. Michigan vs. 4. Florida State
Michigan was tested by LSU’s dynamic offense in the Round of 32 while Florida State was barely tested at all by Colorado’s stagnant offensive attack. This is a rematch of a 2018 Elite Eight game that Michigan won 58-54. Both teams have made it to the Sweet 16 in three consecutive tournaments.
2. Alabama vs. 11. UCLA
UCLA is allowing just 63 points per game during the NCAA Tournament. Alabama is averaging 82 points per game and scored the third-most total points of any NCAA team in the regular season (2,551). Something’s gotta give here.
6. USC vs. 7. Oregon
These Pac-12 rivals will meet in a game of contrasting styles. The Ducks don’t have much height on their roster while two of USC’s primary players, Evan and Isaiah Mobley, are 7-0 and 6-10 respectively. Can the Ducks avoid letting them get easy buckets while scoring enough inside on the NCAA’s second-best shot blocker, Evan Mobley? They’ll need to in order to emerge with a win.
