Colby Covington will unleash Donald Trumps dragon energy vs Kamaru Usman

UFC star Colby Covington has revealed that he will unleash Donald Trump’s ‘dragon energy’ when he takes on Kamuru Usman at Madison Square Garden in New York next weekend.

The fighter has made his backing of the former president of the United States well known throughout his career, and for his fight with fellow Trump supporter Usman admitted that it will be aided by the Republican.

The American will be hoping to get his own back against his arch rival, after Usman was the man who came out on top last time they met via a technical knockout in December 2019.

However Covington now believes that with the energy of Trump on his side, it is his time to prevail against his 33-year-old opponent.

He said: “I have this energy that I get from [Donald]. I call it 'dragon energy' and I’m going to unleash that dragon energy next weekend."

Covington also noted that he has the backing of Trump’s full family, revealing that whilst the former President may not be able to attend, he expects wife Erica and sons Eric and Donald Jr will be cage-side.

Despite the Republican not being able to make it, the American said that he will still speak to Trump directly on their ‘average phone call’ after the fight.

Covington commented: “You know, I was just talking to Donald Trump yesterday, I know he has a big rally that day so I’m not sure if he’s going to be able to make it.

“But I’m sure that I’ll have my average phone call with him after my every fight. So I’ll be talking to him. It’s amazing having [their] support."

The 75-year-old lost his Presidential role last year to Democrat Joe Biden, however reports have suggested that Trump will look to campaign for a return to the White House.

As a result, supporter and fighter Covington has boldly predicted that he will go onto defeat Usman next week, followed by the Republican getting re-elected as leader of the United States.

He added: "I'm going to take that UFC undisputed title back. Then I know that Donald Trump is going to take back the White House."

Despite the American claiming he has the former President on his side, Trump also has ties to his opponent Usman after the pair exchanged words at one of the 75-year-old’s previous rallies.

Whilst on stage Trump said: “Does anybody like UFC? I’ll tell you what… Usman, I know who he is. He’s tough. That’s who he is. Kamaru Usman. Where is our champ?

“Come on, champ. Get up. Man, oh man, oh man. What a fighter you are. I don’t want to mess with him.

“I may weigh a couple of pounds more. Do you think I could take you in a fight, champ? I don’t think so. He goes, ‘No.’ I think you’re right, champ."
