The final Grand Slam of the year gets underway next week with all eyes on today’s draw with Novak Djokovic announcing he won’t be competing just an hour ago. The 21-time Grand Slam champion has not been allowed to travel to Flushing Meadows due to restrictions on foreigners unvaccinated entering the US.

It will give defending champion Daniil Medvedev a boost in his hopes of winning a second Grand Slam title of his career, but the Russian hasn’t been in great form recently. Rafael Nadal comes in with a question mark over his fitness after his surprise defeat to Borna Coric at the Cincinnati Masters last week making the men’s draw wide open.

Nick Kyrgios is seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time since the 2020 Australian Open and is arguably one of the most in-form players on the ATP Tour. On the women’s side, Serena Williams and Emma Raducanu are likely to dominate headlines.

Raducanu returns to the scene of her historic major triumph from 12 months ago and put in some strong displays last time out in Cincinnati – including a dominant win over Williams. The American sporting icon is playing in her final event before retirement and will want to go out with a bang.

Stay tuned below for live updates throughout the evening when the draw is made.

US Open draw LIVE

Good evening and welcome to Express Sport’s live blog for the US Open draw with plenty of storylines to keep an eye out for!

Serena Williams is playing her swansong major and will want to make a mark in her final Grand Slam while Emma Raducanu returns to the scene of her historic triumph from last year.

Andy Murray had hoped to be seeded for the US Open draw to give him a chance of building up some momentum, but disappointing first-round exits at the Citi Open and Canadian Open left him falling short.

Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev come in as the favourites, but Nick Kyrgios also comes in on good form and could easily make another run to the final.
