Wales could take a giant stride towards the last-16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar if they can take all three points against Iran on Friday.

Gareth Bale’s penalty earned Rob Page’s team a deserved 1-1 draw in their opening Group B fixture against the United States on Monday.

With England yet to come next week, the Welsh cannot afford any slip-ups against an Iranian outfit who were thrashed 6-2 by the Three Lions in their opener.

While it’s true that Iran will want to prove a point and resurrect their own chances of making the knockout rounds, Wales will begin as favourites in the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan.

When is Wales vs Iran?

The Group B fixture will kick-off at 1pm Qatar time on Friday, which is 10am in the United Kingdom, 5am EST in the United States and 8pm Australian Eastern Time.

How to watch the match

The game will be broadcast live on BBC One in the United Kingdom and can also be streamed for those with a TV licence on the BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website. Coverage will begin at 9.15am.

Welsh language coverage is available on S4C and streamed on S4C Online.

In the United States, the game will be shown live on Fox Sports 1 and is also available on Telemundo, fubo TV, DirecTV Stream, Peacock Premium, Vidgo and Sling Blue.

Australian viewers can tune into the game via SBS, who will be televising every match during the 2022 World Cup. SBS On Demand will also stream the Wales vs Iran fixture for those on the move.

Where is Wales vs Iran being played?

The venue for Friday’s match is the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, which is located 20km west of Doha in Al Rayyan and has a capacity of 40,000.

It is also known as the Al-Rayyan Stadium and has been redeveloped for the World Cup, having originally opened in 2003.

The ground is home to Al-Rayyan Sports Club and Al-Kharitiyath Sports Club.

It will host seven games during the World Cup and held Wales’s first game against the United States. Indeed, it will also host Wales vs England on Tuesday.
