Manchester United scouts rave over their OWN player Andreas Pereira after being sent to Brazil to pursue a transfer target… with the on-loan midfielder catching the eye of the Red Devils’ talent-spotters

  • Manchester United scouts have been left raving about Andreas Pereira
  • The scouts headed to Brazil to pursue a possible summer transfer target
  • But returned with reports on midfielder Pereira, who is on loan at Flamengo
  • Pereira is expected to return to United with just one year left on his current deal

Manchester United scouts sent to watch a potential transfer target in Brazil have returned to report that their one of their own players was the most impressive on the pitch.

United’s talent-spotters sent to watch 21-year-old midfielder Joao Gomes play for Flamengo instead highlighted Andreas Pereira as the most notable performer on the night.

The 26-year-old was on the periphery of the United squad in recent seasons but has shone since making a loan move to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A at the start of the season.

United’s scouts were sent to watch exciting midfield prospect Joao Gomes but came back with reports on Pereira, who shone in Flamengo’s most recent outing.

The 26-year-old midfielder scored the opener and got an assist during their 2-1 over Fluminense in the league last weekend – while Gomes was an unused sub.

Pereira has impressed during his loan and has seemed to have settled well in Brazil – but a permanent move looks unlikely for the midfielder.

According to ESPN, he is expected back at United in the summer with new manager Erik ten Hag willing to give him an opportunity after United announced the departures of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata.

The Brazilian midfielder wants regular first-team football and is willing to return to Old Trafford for the chance to win over Ten Hag.

A decision over Pereira’s long-term future at the club will need to be made, with his current deal in Manchester ending next season.

Pereira signed for the Red Devils as an academy scholar in 2012 and has gone on to make 75 appearances for the first-team.

Midfielder is expected to be given an opportunity to play under incoming boss Erik ten Hag
