Todd Boehly pictured at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea takeover edges ever closer

Todd Boehly was once again pictured at Stamford Bridge with his takeover of Chelsea reportedly nearing completion.

The American was in the stands as the Blues drew 1-1 with Leicester City on Thursday (May 19) evening, just as he had been for the home match with Wolves earlier in the month. He wasn't the only famous face in attendance, with WWE legend John Cena also watching on.

They weren't treated to a home win with James Maddison's early opener for the visitors cancelled out by Marcos Alonso's 33rd minute strike to leave it honours even in the penultimate game of the season.

Boehly and his consortium are still yet to buy the club from Roman Abramovich after the process was said to have hit a snag earlier this week. Reports since then have been conflicting surrounding the situation.

PA news agency have claimed a resolution has been reached with the UK Government for how the £1.5billion debt the club owe to Abramovich will be handled.

Should there be no further issues, the takeover could be completed by the end of May, which would be a major relief with the transfer window just around the corner.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has reassured fans he is still committed to the club amid the uncertainty. Speaking before the Leicester game, he said: "It's also the feeling that I get, that I'm in the right place, and I'm not always questioning myself as to will I be in charge, will I not be in charge.

"It feels genuine that I'm right here, that I'm wanted here and that it's still a very, very good fit here. I like to be here, and I'm looking forward to what's coming.

"We would have really liked to have had things in a different way, and it came out of nothing. But if you have zero influence in the circumstances, then the only thing you can change is your attitude to the circumstances because I cannot do anything around the situation.

"So I try to have a positive attitude to what's coming and to find solutions when it's ready. I'm happy where I am, and I will try to do my very best so that everyone around is happy that I'm here."
