Tallest outfield player in England leaves new club on loan days after signing

Huddersfield Town have shipped out the tallest outfield player in the UK just two days after signing him from Solihull Moors.

Kyle Hudlin swapped the West Midlands for Yorkshire on Wednesday, but he has now joined AFC Wimbledon on loan for the season. The 6ft 9ins striker – two inches taller than Peter Crouch – impressed in Non-League, sparking rumours of a move to Manchester City.

After Hudlin joined Wimbledon, he said: “It’s a great opportunity to showcase my talent in league football. I want to help Wimbledon to kick on and get back into League One – which is where we need to be.

“The gaffer has been really welcoming to me. He’s someone that expects high standards and I feel like that will help to push me up to the next level and get the best out of me.

“I expect League Two to be a bit more technical than the National League but it still has the same characteristics that I have grown used to.”

Hudlin was a regular goal-getter last season – and he scored 13 goals for the Moors as they reached the promotion play-off final in a losing effort.

Hudlin was linked with a move to Pep Guardiola's side last summer, and speaking then he said: "I am enjoying life at Solihull right now, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have aspirations in England and in the Champions League.

"I don’t want to run before I can walk and I understand how high the jump is to that level, but I want to make that jump."
