Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown says Steven Gerrard inspired Liverpool love

Millie Bobby Brown fell in love with Liverpool thanks to the influence of her family – and specifically mentioned Steven Gerrard as a reason she started to have more interest in the club.

Millie, who found worldwide fame by starring in four series of Stranger Things on Netflix having been just 12 when the show premiered back in 2016, remains a huge fan of the club six years on.

Chatting to LiverpoolFC.com back in 2017 the actress said: "My family have been supporters and big fans since I was very young so I gradually started to love them and watch the games.

"My brother played a big part in it. When he started telling me about Steven Gerrard when he was playing I started falling in love with it!

"So it was a big moment in my life."

Gerrard played 710 times for his boyhood club between 1998 and 2015, scoring 185 goals and leading them to Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup glory.

When asked if she thinks there are British accents that should get more screen time in Hollywood while appearing on Hot Ones five years later, Millie said: "I love a Liverpudlian accent.

"Any one from Liverpool just sounds… I can't do the accent so don't ask me, but I support the football team Liverpool."

Adding on their FA Cup victory: "We are very proud."

Millie was joined on the cast for the most recent series by a man with Liverpool links in the form of Joseph Quinn – who played Hawkins rocker Eddie Munson.

He told The Echo: "I spent my childhood going up to West Derby and I still see them whenever I can. I've got some lovely history up in Liverpool and it's an amazing city."

With Stranger Things set to return for a fifth and final season down the line, Millie will be hoping to see Liverpool win more major trophies in the meantime.
