Southampton vs Arsenal LIVE: Team news, line-ups and more ahead of Premier League fixture tonight

Follow all the action as Southampton host Arsenal in the Premier League this evening.

It is just a matter of days since the two sides last met, with the Saints running out 1-0 winners in the FA Cup fourth round courtesy of a Gabriel Magalhaes own goal. Ralph Hasenuttl’s side were well deserving of their victory, but Mikel Arteta did opt to rest a number of his key players, with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey and Bukayo Saka expected to return to the starting line-up. Arsenal remain without their captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, though, who is currently dealing with a personal issue.

The defeat brought an end to Arsenal’s sudden upturn in form, with four victories in the five games preceding Saturday’s tie. That revival has alleviated pressure on the manager and seen Arsenal rise up to 11th and not altogether out of the hunt for a European place in such an unpredictable season. They find themselves staring up at Southampton, though, who enjoyed a magnificent start to the campaign before a slight slump in recent weeks, with just one win in their last six league games, although that victory did come against champions Liverpool. • Mesut Ozil’s complicated Arsenal legacy
  • Arsenal only have themselves to blame for Southampton defeat

Newcastle 0 – 1 Leeds

57 mins: Alioski goes in the book for a handball and Newcastle win a free kick just outside the box over to the right. Shelvey floats the set piece into the middle and Lascelles jumps the highest and wins the ball. He doesn’t connect well with the header and it goes wide of the back post.

Newcastle 0 – 1 Leeds

54 mins: Shelvey curls a corner into the box for Newcastle, it looks like Ayling wins the first ball and heads it down to Dallas who then boots it away. Almiron receives the ball high up the pitch and he darts inside before shooting from range and forcing Meslier into a low save.

Newcastle 0 – 1 Leeds

50 mins: Huge chance! Leeds work the ball up the pitch and Rodrigo slots it to Raphinha. He runs into the right side of the box and cuts it back to Dallas. He strikes one at goal but it gets blocked, bounces back at him, hits his hand, and loops towards the crossbar before hitting the underside and crossing the goalline. Newcastle appeal for handball against Dallas and Anthony Taylor agrees, no goal for Leeds.

Newcastle 0 – 1 Leeds

47 mins: Raphinha floats an early ball into the box for Bamford but it’s brought down by Schar. He tries to clear the ball and hits Ayling but luckily for Newcastle the ball bounces off the Leeds man and rolls out of play.

Newcastle 0 – 1 Leeds

Second half: Can Newcastle get back into the match? No changes from either team as the Magpies restart the game.

Saying that, Leeds had just one shot on target in the first half themselves. The difference obviously being that it lead to a goal.

Newcastle failed to have a shot on target in the first half. The Magpies have had 21 first half shots on target in their 20 Premier League matches this season (three goals from those 21 attempts)

Newcastle 0 – 1 Leeds

45+5 mins: Half time. Leeds with the advantage at the break but Newcastle have grown into the game well. The goal seems to have energised them and they’ve created a couple of good chances. As with most of these close games it could come down to who scores next.

Newcastle 0 – 1 Leeds

45+3 mins: A Leeds free kick is curled into the box and Bamford gets up high to win the header. He only gets a glancing touch to the ball and it goes wide of the far post. Chance missed for Leeds.
