Serge Gnabry taunts Chelsea after former Arsenal winger’s Bayern Munich double
Serge Gnabry taunted fans of Arsenal's London rivals after the former Gunner scored twice in Bayern Munich's 3-0 Champions League win at Chelsea .
Gnabry's quickfire brace set the reigning Bundesliga champions on their way to a comprehensive first-leg victory in their last-16 clash at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Chelsea must now make history in order to progress to the quarter-finals, as no team has previously overturned a similar deficit from a home leg of a Champions league clash.
Gnabry's match-winning performance against Chelsea came after he fired four goals past Tottenham in Bayern's 7-2 victory in London back in October.
And after inspiring Bayern's victory on Tuesday, the former Arsenal winger took to Twitter to declare: "London still red."
The 24-year-old said afterwards he loves returning to London, and that certainly seems to be the case judging by his Champions League heroics this season.
"I always enjoy coming back here to London – I have a lot of friends here," said Gnabry in quotes reported by the Sun .
“We knew we had to be patient. We had the game under control, knowing we’d get our chances, and in the end we took them."
But Gnabry admits Chelsea are not out of the tie yet, saying: “Last year Liverpool beating Barcelona after 3-0, we need to be careful.”
Gnabry's resurgence raises questions over Arsenal's failure to hold onto him when Werder Bremen signed him for £4.5million in 2016 following a disappointing loan spell at West Brom.
Just under a year later, he was snapped up by Bayern for £7.5m.
Arsene Wenger, who was Arsenal's manager at the time, said Gnabry had lacked application while at the Emirates.
"This guy, he has no real limitations – it’s more how much does he want to suffer,’ Wenger said of Gnabry as the former Gunners boss appeared as a pundit on beIN Sports.
