Robbie Savage slammed for ‘brutal’ putdown of BT Sport host Jeff Brazier

Robbie Savage aimed an unprovoked dig at BT Sport Score host Jeff Brazier on Saturday afternoon – mocking his role as an ambassador for People's Postcode Lottery after asking for his opinion.

The former Blackburn and Derby midfielder gave his strong thoughts on Emerson Royal's red card during Arsenal's win over Tottenham by saying it endangered Gabriel Martinelli – before asking for Brazier's thoughts.

Brazier, who regularly appears on People's Postcode Lottery ads, questioned whether Martinelli was seriously at risk of injury despite it being a reckless challenge, as did pundit Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Without letting the host, who was sitting in for Darrell Currie alongside Jules Breech, finish his point, Savage said that maybe he should 'stick to knocking on doors' with a stern look on his face.

With Brazier ignoring the jibe to ask the opinion of in-house former Premier League referee Peter Walton, the fellow pundits of Savage laughed along in the background.

One Twitter user wrote of the exchange: "Did Robbie Savage just say Jeff Brazier should stick to opening doors and windows? Bloody hell, absolutely brutal."

Adding: "Think he’s referring to Jeff’s job doing the Postcode Lottery ads. Bit of a d*ck move."

With a second agreeing: "The basic idea is: you're not a pro so you don't get to have an opinion. What a total d***head move from Savage."

Another viewer added: "Sutton and Robbie Savage acting like a pair of tw*ts trying to belittle Jeff Brazier on BT Score."

Brazier, who has two children from his relationship with late reality star Jade Goody, can usually be seen providing updates from a non-league ground on the Saturday results show.

He wrote on Twitter before the programme: "I'll be co-hosting @btsportscore with @julesbreach this afternoon but my thoughts on #thevanarama are never far from mind."

Another quote of Savage to go viral involved him questioning why Marcus Rashford was named as Premier League Player of the Month over Erling Haaland – despite having more goal involvements.
