PSG are reportedly set to launch a £59.1million bid to sign Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

The French champions are looking to build on their domestic dominance in the Champions League, and manager Christophe Galtier is said to be interested in bringing in Silva to strengthen his squad ahead of the coming European campaign.

Silva still has three years remaining on his current deal in Manchester, and a move for the four-time Premier League winner would be contingent on Pep Guardiola receiving a suitable fee for the 28-year-old.

However, according to a report from The Times, Silva has been earmarked as a top target for the Parisian club and PSG are ‘confident that Silva will move to Paris if a fee can be agreed.’

Barcelona are also said to be interested in signing Silva, but their ongoing financial issues have hampered the possibility of a move, with the cash-strapped club still yet to register new-signing Jules Kounde for the 22/23 La Liga season.

The Catalan club had attempted to bring the midfielder to the Nou Camp earlier this summer, but would need to move on Frenkie de Jong to finance any prospective deal after Guardiola slapped a £85million price tag on Silva.

Barcelona boss Xavi is also interested in signing the Portuguese international playmaker

The news comes as only the latest update in the ongoing speculation surrounding the playmakers future with the Citizens.

In July, French outlet Le Parisien claimed that PSG were interested in bringing Silva in in an exchange deal that would see Brazilian superstar Neymar heading to the Etihad.

Silva has served as one of Pep Guardiola’s key players since joining the club from Monaco for a fee of £43.5million back in 2017.

The playmaker enjoyed his highest-scoring campaign in the Premier League last season, netting eight goals and contributing three assists as City claimed their fourth league title in the last five years.

Amidst the ongoing speculation over his future at the club, Silva is yet to make a Premier League start this campaign.

Speaking regarding his future at City earlier this month, Silva said: ‘It’s a big club, and they don’t want players who are not happy at the club,’

‘They always say to all of us that if you’re not happy, you can go. Of course, they are in business and they want the right amount of money for letting us go, but personally it’s a relationship with the club that is very respectful. They have always been honest with me and I have always been honest with them.’ He added.

‘I will always respect my relationship with Man City, with the fans, with the staff, with my team-mates, so whatever happens happens, and for sure, it will happen in a very respectful way.’
