Paul Pogba warned of the backlash he will face when he returns to Man Utd this week

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has been warned of the backlash he will face when he returns to the club this week. Pogba has once again hit the headlines with comments he has made during the international break. It is becoming a common theme for the France midfielder after last month he reiterated it would be his dream to play for Real Madrid.

At the weekend, Pogba explained how he enjoys time with the France squad more than at United.

But ESPN FC pundit and former Venezuela star Alejandro Moreno does not think Pogba has done himself any favours with his comments.

Pogba has struggled for regular game time at United this season but Moreno thinks the 27-year-old has only made things worse for himself ahead of returning to Carrington later this week.

Moreno said: “I understand it’s a breath of fresh air to go to the national team but you’ve got to have to go to Manchester, you’re going to have to go back to Manchester, because the fresh air disappears and this week will disappear and you’ll have to go back and you’re going to answer on this.

“This is your daily job, this is your bread and butter, the national team is not.

“The national team is a wonderful privilege to have as a player and it’s a great opportunity and because it is a wonderful privilege you appreciate it while you’re there, but then you’ve got to go back to reality and you’re going to deal with the fact that you are not a starter right now at Manchester United.

“And just because you say these things and it makes you feel better about yourself, it’s not going to make your situation any better.

“In fact I would argue that it makes it worse because it now creates an environment that was indeed worse than what it was when you left Manchester.

“Is that what you want? I don’t think so.”

Following France’s 1-0 win over Portugal on Saturday, Pogba revealed how happy he is when he goes on international duty.

“This is a period that I haven’t previously experienced in my career, as I’ve been used to playing all the time and getting into my rhythm, so that’s suddenly changed,” he told RTL.

“I feel I’m gradually getting back into it now. I’m rediscovering my form. That’s the sort of performance that I need to produce and I need to do so consistently.

“[Playing with France] is like a window that opens up. It’s a breath of fresh air when you come here. We have a truly fantastic squad. When we come here, we’re all happy.

“We’re all pleased to see one another. We really enjoy ourselves on the pitch.

“That doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy ourselves at club level, but it’s not the same here. We’re a real family, and we have so much fun when we come here.”
