The ground was brought to silence as Schar was motionless after colliding with Eddie Nketiah

The 30-year-old crashed down heavily on the ground and stayed motionless as the 52,000 seater St James’ Park was brought to silence.

His team-mates waved the medical staff on immediately, as centre-back partner Emil Krafth appeared to make sure that Schar didn’t swallow his tongue.

Nketiah received a booking for the challenge, but VAR decided no further punishment was necessary.

Thankfully, a dazed Schar managed to get himself up and walk off, albeit gingerly, after lengthy treatment.

Also during the match, Newcastle striker Callum WIlson played on despite dislodging a tooth.

Callum Wilson suffered a dislodged tooth but continued on as Newcastle beat Arsenal

The 30-year-old made his long awaited return to the starting XI in the 2-0 win over Mikel Arteta’s side after recently recovering from a calf injury which saw him miss 18 games.

But he suffered a whack to the face in the 27th minute and ran straight to the touchline to sort out what looked to be a dislodged front tooth.

The striker managed to get back on the pitch and played a crucial role in giving Newcastle the lead at St James’ Park.

Wilson burst into the box as Joelinton delivered a cross into the box before White put the ball into the back of his own net.
