Oliver Kahn has claimed that Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt is eager to sign for Bayern Munich as the German club continue to push to sign the Dutchman.

Kahn, who is the CEO of Bayern, suggested that the player is keen to complete a move that has been long in the making, with the 22-year-old having been linked with the German champions for several weeks.

But, according to Yahoo, talks have taken place between the two clubs this week, and it is looking more and more likely that de Ligt will sign before the start of the new season.

‘We had talks and the player wants to come to FC Bayern,’ CEO Kahn told Blickpunkt Sport on Saturday.

‘We’ll have more discussions and then see how it goes.’

de Ligt has a release clause of just over £100million, but Juventus are reportedly willing to consider offers north of £76million for the Dutchman.

It is suggested that the Turin-based side may even be willing to accept Bayern’s offer of £51million plus bonuses.

The player has also been linked with Chelsea, but it now seems there is only one possible destination.

Bayern also announced on Saturday that they had reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of forward Robert Lewandowski.

Serge Gnabry also signed a new four-year deal to stay in Munich after reports linking the former Arsenal forward with a return to the Premier League.

de Ligt has made 117 appearances since signing for Juventus from Ajax in 2019 for £67.5million.

He has scored eight goals for the club, and is also a regular for the Holland national team.

Juventus have recently been linked with a move for Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes as a replacement for de Ligt.
