Marcus Rashford highlights Man Utd’s unsung heroes after victory over PSG
Marcus Rashford was Manchester United's hero in Paris again as his stunning late goal sank the French champions.
Rashford, who sealed United's epic 3-1 win away to PSG with a dramatic late penalty in 2019, struck again in the 87 minute to clinch another memorable triumph.
Winning against last season's beaten finalists gave United the perfect start on their return to the Champions League, thanks to Rashford's cool head and clinical finish.
“As a striker, late on in the game especially, that's your mindset – you might only get one chance and you've got to do your best to make it count,” said Rashford.
“Whether it's a penalty or a goal like today, at the end of the day it's all the same and it gets us the three points.
“It was difficult at times and we had to defend very deep. They have some unbelievable players – Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria.
“But the guys in the full-backs, they defended unbelievably.
"When they defend like that man to man, we can do great things."
Bruno Fernandes put United in front with a retaken penalty, before an Anthony Martial goal put PSG level, until Rashford's late goal gave the Reds the victory.
United boss Solskjaer paid tribute to Rashford and said: “He’s a good footballer, he’s got quality and he took his goal very very well, a great turn and a good finish down in the corner.
"When you’re happy on the pitch and you’re happy with what you’re doing off it, they marry well together.
"I think it gives Marcus energy, what he does, I don’t think that’s a problem.
“It's a different feeling from the last time we won here. It's at the start of the group stage, but we've beaten a fantastic team.
“Last time it was a knockout and it was euphoric, this is sterile without the fans, but it's still excellent and we deserved to win.
"When you go away to a team like this, against Neymar and Mbappe, you have to defend well and your keeper will have to make saves.
"Bruno missed two penalties in a row but he's not going to stop taking them – he showed focus and character.”
