Man Utd summer signing Antony has put on almost two stone since making his debut

Manchester United star Antony has put on a whopping two stone since his footballing debut.

The winger joined the Red Devils in the summer for an eye-watering fee of around £86million. But before attracting a superstar price-tag or even thriving with Ajax in the Eredivisie, the Brazilian was a budding young playmaker looking to make a mark at Sao Paulo.

Images and videos of Antony during his days in Brazil show a marked difference in the player’s build. In fact, he weighed a whole two stone less than his current weight when he made his first appearance in the Brazilian Serie A four years ago.

The United wide-man has since bulked up and weighs in at 70kg as a result of employing his own personal trainer – making him far better suited to the physicality of the Premier League.

Antony has notched three goals in just six league appearances for United since his move as he begins to justify the staggering fee paid by Erik ten Hag to reunite the duo. Yet the silky winger claims his smaller stature never impacted his ability to embarrass opponents throughout his youth.

Do you think Antony will be a flop at Man Utd? Let us know in the comments section.

He recently said: "I was small, but I dribbled with a meanness that came from God. Dribbling was always something inside me. It was a natural instinct. And I refused to bow my head to anyone.

“I would elastico the drug dealers. Rainbow the bus drivers. Nutmeg the thieves.I really did not give a f***. With a ball at my feet, I had no fear."

Antony’s flair certainly paid off in the long-term as he now finds himself in the Brazil squad in Qatar. He featured in all three of the Selecao’s group stage clashes and is currently gearing up for the last-16 fixture against South Korea on Monday.
