Man Utd renew interest in £100m-rated Bellingham two years after he snubbed move

Manchester United are poised to revive their interest in England sensation Jude Bellingham.

United pulled out all the stops in a bid to sign the midfield ace from Birmingham in the summer of 2020, which included getting Sir Alex Ferguson to give him a personal tour of the training ground.

But United were left stunned when Bellingham snubbed them in favour of joining Borussia Dortmund in a £25m deal instead.

Since then Bellingham has gone on to establish himself as one of the most talented teenagers on the planet – and is expected to be included in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

United have kept close tabs on Bellingham's progress and he has become one of their leading transfer targets again.

Boss Erik ten Hag had wanted to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona but failed to land him – and has now switched his attentions to Bellingham.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are leading the race to sign Bellingham next summer in a deal that could cost in excess of £100m.

But United have taken encouragement from the fact Liverpool will struggle to secure Champions League qualification this season, while Real might not be able to afford the 19-year-old.

Ten Hag has been promised the funds needed to rebuild a United team capable of challenging for the games biggest trophies again.

United director of football John Murtough has held several meetings with Ten Hag to discuss summer targets and have agreed Bellingham should be one of the club's priorities.

Bellingham, who doesn't turn 20 until next June, is weighing up his options and United know they will have to finish in the top four this season to stand a realistic chance of luring him to Old Trafford at the second time of asking.
