Man Utd news: Mike Phelan sends Barcelona message after scouting mission… and fans LOVE it
Phelan, who has been Solskjaer’s assistant since the Norwegian took over in December, has regularly had fans in raptures with his social media posts.
The pair have made the trip to Barcelona for their clash with Atletico Madrid tonight.
It comes with United hosting the Catalan giants in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
And Phelan posted a picture on Twitter from his seat with the caption: “Ok let’s see what you’ve got then.”
He followed this up with a selfie of himself and Solskjaer, commenting: “Not sure who’s at the wheel on this damn iPhone.”
That came in reference to Manchester United’s new chant ‘Ole’s at the Wheel’.
And fans were loving Phelan’s tweets.
One posted: “We love you Mike.”
Another added: “Oh my god I love you Mike.”
While a third wrote: “Phelan’s at the wheel, Tell me how good does it feel.”
Another commented: “Never leave Mike.”
And a fifth added: “I think Micky P secretly owns Twitter. No one can kill it this hard without even trying”
Solskjaer has been confirmed as Manchester United’s permanent manager having originally been in charge on a caretaker basis.
Phelan, who was Sir Alex Ferguson’s trusted No 2, has not been confirmed though having been sporting director at Australian side Central Coast Mariners.
Solskjaer believes a deal for Phelan will be announced shortly though.
He said: “I think Ed (Woodward) and Mick (Phelan) will get things sorted very soon.
“He’s a key part of the club.”
