Man rushed to hospital after falling off roof at Arsenal protests against owners

A man was rushed to hospital after reportedly falling off a box office roof as Arsenal supporters protested against their owners the Kroenkes on Friday.

Thousands of Gunners fans gathered around the Emirates Stadium on Friday night ahead of their Premier League clash against Everton.

And they demanded that American billionaire Stan Kroenke sells the club following his failed attempt to take them into the European Super League this week.

The protests were largely peaceful, but according to The Athletic there was one worrying incident when one supporter fell from a great height.

The police and ambulance service confirmed that he was treated at the scene and later taken to hospital.

Fortunately his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Arsenal fans let off flares and waved banners before their 1-0 defeat to the Toffees, and could be heard chanting "We want Kroenke out" and "We want our Arsenal back."

Their manager Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, defended their right to protest.

"The fans have to express, that is their right and they have to do it freely," the Spaniard said.

“For me, what it shows is the power and the capacity when they show that determination and passion to achieve what they want.

“If we can use this with our fans to support the team, I think that will be incredibly powerful and it will make us much, much stronger.

“So it's time to leave them to express themselves and now, somehow, we have to engage them again, get them closer to us and believing in what we do.

“If we do that, we'll be in a much better place.”

It comes after Kroenke's son Josh apologised for the farce surrounding the Super League, writing: “Leadership is about recognising when you are wrong, correcting and apologising.

“We asked ourselves, what is worse: European Super League, or European Super League without Arsenal?

“We also asked ourselves what do the fans want? The global fan wants Arsenal vs Barcelona as often as possible. English fans want to see more big matches, but you still want your cold nights in Stoke.

“We got it wrong. It was never our intention to harm English football.”
