Liverpool transfer target Konrad Laimer is reportedly open minded about moving to England. The Reds have been tipped to sign the RB Leipzig midfielder in January to solve their woes in the middle of the pitch. And the player’s stance will give the Merseyside giants hope of getting a deal over the line.

Liverpool have been forced to content with the absences of Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones at various stages of this campaign. And the team’s frailties have been exposed time and time again. The Reds failed to win any of their opening three matches, and are only eighth in the Premier League table after tasting top-flight victory on just five occasions.

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool are working to sign a central midfielder in January. And journalist Dean Jones says Laimer is “open minded” about playing in the Premier League.

Laimer joined Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2017 and has gone on to rack-up 167 appearances for the German club. But he has been restricted to just six appearances this season after sustaining ankle ligament damage in September.

The 25-year-old, who has won 24 caps for Austria, is out of contract next summer and has been tipped to turn his back on Leipzig. So his current employers could be keen to cash in on the ace in January.

Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in signing the player. And a move to Allianz Arena would see him reunite with ex-Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann. So Liverpool will need to up the ante if they want to get a deal over the line.

Liverpool defeated Tottenham 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday as Mohamed Salah scored a brace for the Reds. And after the showdown, boss Jurgen Klopp said: “Brilliant first half – a really, really good first half. Good football, controlled, top goals, world-class goals. And then we all know, Tottenham is coming back.

“[They] take a lot of risk, become in these moments pretty direct, switched the side, cross the ball early and that makes life then really difficult because you cannot defend these situations all clear. There are a lot of second-ball fights.

“There was a couple of moments when it was counter, counter, counter pretty much. If you can score there the third it obviously changes the whole game but we couldn’t. Then Tottenham scores their goal, which was really well played, and we had to keep fighting. If you want to win an away game this is completely the normal way to do it and I am really happy about it tonight.”
