Lionel Messi has telling reaction to Barcelona’s Eibar draw after exit comments

Lionel Messi didn’t hide his disappointment as Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by Eibar on Tuesday night.

The Argentine was unavailable for the game and was left out of the matchday squad, but that didn’t stop him from watching the game from the stands.

Barca were poor against the La Liga strugglers, and found themselves 1-0 down after Kike mugged Ronald Araujo for the ball before slotting past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

They were level ten minutes later through Ousmane Dembele, but were unable to find a winner.

Messi’s displeasure was clear to see, as he was filmed walking out of the stands while shaking his head.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has been tipped to leave Barca at the end of the season, when he will be out of contract.

He’s free to talk with foreign clubs from January 1st, and is expected to receive an offer from Manchester City following their failed attempt to sign him in the previous window.

Messi tried to leave the club just a few months ago as he filed a burofax stating he wanted to exercise the exit clause in his contract, but was blocked after Barcelona and La Liga intervened and warned him of a legal battle.

But Messi confirmed this week that he would only decide his future at the end of the season, and would remain committed to Barca until then.

He said: “Messi said: "Nothing will be crystal clear before the end of the year. I'll wait until the season is over.

"What matters now is thinking about the team, finishing the year well and not being distracted by other things.

"I don't know what will happen. I'm focused on what we have here and battling for whatever we can.

"I'm not thinking about how the year will end.

“As of today, it wouldn't be wise for me to say what I'm going to do because I don't know."
