Jota’s secret training ground trait spotted by Liverpool star’s former coach
Diogo Jota's former coach Jorge Simao has opened up about the Liverpool star's desire to work on his game to become a better player.
Jota has enjoyed a swift rise to prominence with four different clubs before joining the Reds this summer for £41million from Wolves.
Despite some raised eyebrows, Jota has proven to be an excellent signing for the Premier League champions with seven goals in 11 games.
The 23-year-old has made such a strong start, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tweaked his formation to include him in his attack alongside the 'Big 3' of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Simao coached Jota at Pacos de Ferreira and recalled the moment he realised the Portuguese ace was different to the rest.
“I remember looking at him in a number of training sessions during that season and noting to myself that he was only using his left foot,” he told The Athletic.
“Without being asked to. Why? We never talked about it, but I believe it was because he understood that it was one of the areas he had to work on.

"He wanted to be able to cross better, shoot better, dribble better with his weaker foot.
"It was about personal development: he did it for himself.”
Speaking last month, Klopp expressed his surprise at how good Jota is.
“We fought really hard to sign him [Jota]. We didn’t need to convince him too much. He’s an exceptional talent," he told the official website.
"He has the speed, physicality, technique, he’s both-footed. He’s much better than I thought he would be and that’s really impressive."
