Incensed Man Utd fans can’t believe Nemanja Vidic absence from all-time Prem XI

There are hordes of angry Manchester United fans on social media currently after an all-time Premier League XI was posted that did not include Nemanja Vidic.

Chelsea legend John Terry and Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk were picked ahead of the Serbian, who spent eight years at Old Trafford. During his time under Sir Alex Ferguson, the defender won five Premier League titles, three League Cups, five Community Shields, the Club World Cup and the Champions League.

Vidic made exactly 300 appearances for the Red Devils and was renowned for his physicality while also being named captain for four years. His defensive partnership with Rio Ferdinand is often thought of as one of the best in the history of the Premier League.

So there was pure bafflement among the United fanbase when an all-time Prem XI was named where Vidic's name was completely absent. While Terry has a strong case for being named, having won five league titles of his own, Van Dijk might consider himself lucky.

The Dutchman, who no doubt has been one of the best defenders over the past few years, has just one title to his name, and United fans are not best pleased. One said: "I hope Van Dijk is there as a fan. Vidic played tennis?"

Another puzzled supporter said: "VVD with 1 prem over Vidic with 5? Also 3-peating the prem from 07-09!??" And this fan said: "Nemanja Vidic will always be the Best Defender in the Premier League."

"Vidic clear of vvd," a fifth simply said. And this United fan wrote: "So laughable. How did you pick VVD over Rio/Vidic who has more trophies than the characters in VVD's name."

This United fan replied: "Neville for TAA and vidic for VVD." While another said: "Doesn’t matter who you support, Ferdinand and Vidic were the best CB pairing the leagues ever seen."
