How many free-kicks has Lionel Messi scored compared to Cristiano Ronaldo?
The Barcelona captain has netted a whopping 47 times direct from a free-kick over his illustrious career.
41 of these have been scored for Barcelona, while six more have come for Argentina.
His first for Barca came way back in 2008 in a 6-1 walloping of Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp in which Rafael Marquez, Samuel Eto’o, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Thierry Henry also scored.
Messi’s record may be fantastic, but he is still behind his great rival, Cristiano Ronaldo in the free-kick stakes.
The Juventus forward has scored 53 times direct from a free-kick, 13 of which came for Manchester United, 32 for Real Madrid and 8 for Portugal.
Ronaldo is yet to score from a free-kick for the Serie A champions since his move from Real in the summer.
The Portuguese first found the back of the net from a direct free-kick in February 2006, in a 4-2 win for United against Fulham.
