Gary Lineker has weighed in on Cristiano Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, in which he has blasted his current employers Manchester United in a likely bid to force an exit. Part one of the interview aired at 8pm on Wednesday and has already accumulated four million views.

Ronaldo aired his grievances on a special edition of Piers Morgan Uncensored, slamming the Glazers, Erik ten Hag, Ralf Rangnick, Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and even the club’s catering staff. The 37-year-old striker also aimed fire at his team-mates, claiming the younger stars didn’t care as much as he did at their age.

Lineker has joined the millions reacting to Ronaldo’s explosive comments on social media by taking to Twitter with a prediction. The Match of the Day presenter struggles to believe the Portuguese icon will be at Old Trafford for long after ‘burying’ different aspects of United.

He wrote: “Can’t see @Cristiano at Old Trafford for long. Burying pretty much everyone at the club in his interview with @piersmorgan: the players, the staff, the coaches, the board. Extraordinary!”

Ronaldo will be aiming for World Cup glory with Portugal in the next six weeks to strengthen his football legacy in what could be his final appearance in the tournament. But there can be no doubt he has stained his legacy at United, damaging his reputation among fans, club figures and likely the dressing room after he mercilessly dished out dirt to Talk TV and The Sun.

Workers were spotted tearing down a large poster featuring Cristiano Ronaldo from the front of Old Trafford on Wednesday. But club sources were quick to label it a ‘coincidence’, as they had originally planned to do so in preparation for the Rugby League World Cup final between Australia and Samoa this weekend.

United have confirmed they will wait until seeing the full interview before taking action against Ronaldo. On Monday, a club statement read: “Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo. The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.

“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”

The second and final part will be aired on Piers Morgan Uncensored tonight at 8pm.
