Fabio Vieira’s ‘top bins’ screamer leaves Arsenal fans in awe as they thump Lyon

Fabio Vieira scored a screamer as Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 win in a friendly clash with Lyon.

The Gunners are taking part in the Dubai Cup which also includes Liverpool and AC Milan, although they won't face their Premier League rivals as they build up preparations for the return of the domestic season after the World Cup.

They dominated Ligue 1 side Lyon at the Al-Maktoum Stadium this afternoon (December 8), with centre-back Gabriel opening the scoring with a header before Eddie Nketiah doubled the lead. Vieira, who had set up the second, then made with three with the pick of the bunch.

He finished off a lovely passing move, arrowing a shot into the top right corner which opposition goalkeeper Anthony Lopes could do nothing about. The 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder left Arsenal fans in awe, with one tweeting: "What a goal Vieira!! Steamrolling Lyon here."

Another wrote: "Vieira makes it three from outside of the box after some tiki taka on the D, top bins as well." One commented: "An absolute beauty by Fabio Vieira. The Gunners are firing."

"This guy is gonna annoy the Premier League, mark my words," warned one Gooner. And another joked: "Who needs the World Cup?"

The three first-half goals were enough to secure the victory for Arsenal, with Lyon unable to find a way back into the game in the second 45. Both sides rung the changes after the break as they looked to build up match fitness.

Despite the game being decided in the 90 minutes, they then peculiarly had a penalty shootout which are being held after the matches and are worth an extra point, while a draw is worth two in the tournament.

Arsenal also won that, with Marquinhos and Matt Smith's successful strikes enough after seven of the spot kicks were missed across the two teams.
