Chelsea and Rudiger willing to make Barcelona transfer happen in January
Chelsea are reportedly keen to let go of Antonio Rudiger in the January transfer window after interest from Barcelona.
It is thought that the La Liga giants are in the hunt for a new budget centre-back incase Samuel Umtiti leaves the club.
Barca boss Ronald Koeman is expected to continue to reshape his squad in January.
And Spanish outlet Sport claim that Rudiger has been added to Koeman’s list of potential targets.
The German defender has been slipped heavily down the pecking order at Chelsea in recent months, and was linked with several moves away in the summer.
He failed to clinch a switch to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain or Tottenham, but both Rudiger and Chelsea are said to be willing to go ahead with a switch if such an opportunity arises.
The 27-year-old admitted that he turned down several offers in the summer to stay at Chelsea, but admitted that he seriously considered leaving.
Rudiger told The Athletic last month: ‘The club didn’t tell me that it was absolutely necessary for me to find a new club and that they definitely didn’t have me in their plans for the next few months.
“I also turned down one or two options myself.
“I wasn’t prepared to pack it all in simply because I had been left out a few times. I enjoy living in London and like being at Chelsea.
“Naturally, I looked at a couple of options in the two weeks before the end of the transfer window.
“There was a possibility of a loan deal, in order for me to get more game time. Due to many different reasons and the shortage of time, nothing materialised in the end.”
Rudiger isn’t the only Premier League centre-half Barcelona appear to have their eye on though.

Manchester City youngster Eric Garcia is their top target.
It is understood that Liverpool’s Joel Matip is also on their radar, though any deal there appears unlikely due to they injuries of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
While Sport are also claiming that Shkodran Mustafi is another option, and Barca believe his La Liga experience with Valencia could be a valuable asset.
