Arsenal facing deeper problem despite Mikel Arteta ‘spirit’ claim, says Keown
Arsenal legend Martin Keown thinks Mikel Arteta may have bigger problems to worry about after David Luiz and Dani Ceballos' alleged training ground bust-up.
It was reported the pair clashed, with punches being thrown as they were separated by team-mates.
Ceballos denied the claims on social media, as Arteta played down the spat when quizzed this week.
Keown, who himself was known to be hot-headed, thinks it is not uncommon for clashes like this to occur at clubs.
But the former defender is concerned that there could be a deeper problem in the camp after the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break.
“If it did happen, it wouldn't be unusual. These things happen," he told talkSPORT.
“It's never nice to see it but Arsenal lost that game against Villa heavily and maybe there is a little bit of a problem within the camp and sometimes people get fraught with one another.
“There's a fighting spirit there. You won't want it to happen too often.
“You need to keep everyone together and Arteta needs to be on top of it.”
When quizzed on the incident, Arsenal boss Arteta said: “Nothing.
“Training is very competitive and issues happen a lot of times.
"Those things get resolved immediately within the team and there is not much to say.
“There is no problem at all (between the players).”
Arteta will be hoping his side do the talking on the pitch on Sunday against Leeds United.
The Gunners went into the international break after a hefty defeat to Aston Villa, ending their impressive run under the Spaniard.
