Antonio Rudiger denies biting Paul Pogba and says he’s made up with France star

Chelsea and Germany star, Antonio Rudiger, has denied biting France's Paul Pogba when the two sides clashed in their Euro 2020 opening fixture.

France snatched the three points, as they look to win their first Euros since 2000, thanks to an own goal courtesy of Mats Hummels in the first half, and they survived a VAR scare to hold onto the lead.

However, the major talking point came after 28 minutes, when Rudiger planted his face into Paul Pogba's back, and the German international appeared to bite the Manchester United superstar.

However, the Chelsea centre-back has since denied the incident, however, he has admitted it looks 'unfortunate'.

"I should not come close with my mouth to his back, no doubt about it," the German international said.

"It looks unfortunate. Paul and I have talked about it as friends after the final whistle.

"And he stated in our little talk and talking to the press that it was no bite, as some viewers first thought it was.

"Even during the match, the ref told me that he would have punished me if he thought that it was violent conduct."

Pogba, after the full-time whistle, said: "We're friends. This was nothing big.

"I'm not crying for yellow or red cards for such actions. He nibbled, I think, a little bit on me.

"He hasn't received any card and I think it's better like this. I don't want him to be suspended because of this."
