NRL star in ‘white powder’ photo
The NRL integrity unit is investigating images of now-Parramatta player Shaun Lane which appear to show him holding a sachet of white powder on Mad Monday last year.
The Daily Telegraph broke the news Lane will be investigated over the photo which was allegedly taken on Mad Monday celebrations in 2018 when he was playing for Manly.
The image allegedly shows Lane holding the bag of powder, and it’s believed to be a screenshot from Snapchat.
There is no suggestion as to what the substance might be.
“Pictures have emerged in the last 24 hours of Lane at Mad Monday last year with the Manly Sea Eagles, with a plastic bag, which contains white substance,” Daily Telegraph reporter Phil Rothfield told NRL 360.

“We’re not saying he took the drug, but we’re reporting the fact the NRL integrity unit has the photos now, the Eels have the photos and have had preliminary talks with Lane.
“They meet again (Tuesday) morning.”

Rothfield explained the photo was potentially disturbing, but so was how the image became distributed recently.
“The game didn’t need it,” Paul Kent said.
“It’s disappointing. I think Mad Monday is something the NRL is going to need addressing a bit more seriously.”
The allegations around Lane come a week after the AFL was left reeling from drug-related allegations surrounding Gold Coast Suns player Brayden Crossley.
