F1 fans rage at Silverstone organisers in massive ticket selling farce

Silverstone suspended ticket sales for the 2023 British GP on Thursday evening following a controversial pricing strategy and a system that seemingly couldn't handle the demand.

Ticketing provider Secutix had put in place a "dynamic pricing" system in which ticket cost would increase in real time depending on demand for tickets from F1 fans.

Furthermore, fans struggled to navigate the system and were left increasingly frustrated, with Silverstone pausing any ticket sales overnight to reopen on Friday morning.

However, despite the change in tact, fans have been left just as furious with many unable to get their hands on tickets for the event.

One fan wrote: "Same shambles as yesterday. Two laptops going. Errors accessing site, time outs and now in queue over an hour."

With a second adding: "Its been sorted has it?? Absolute joke! Dont try and sell tickets if you dont have a system that works, SHAMBLES."

A third continued: "Finally got through to book tickets but the site kept freezing so the time expired before I could pay and now I'm back at the end of the queue again."

With a fourth agreeing: "Let me reassure you that the problem hasn't been fixed. It's an utter, utter shambles."

In a statement on Thursday evening, Silverstone said: "We've decided to suspend the 2023 Formula 1 British Grand Prix ticket sale as we are acutely aware a lot of fans have experienced intermittent issues in securing their tickets."

Adding on Friday morning: "We are sorry for the false start and the frustration that many of our loyal fans experienced yesterday.

"Our ticketing partner, Secutix, has been working through the night and we've been reassured that the technical issues faced yesterday are resolved."

It has been reported that 210,000 people registered to be able to buy tickets for the event with 25,000 at one point being in the queue to do so.
