Chicago Blackhawks vs. Philadelphia Flyers: Live score, updates, highlights from NHL Global Series game
Who’s up for some afternoon hockey?
The NHL Global Series brings the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers to Prague, Czech Republic, for both teams’ 2019-20 season openers on Friday. It won’t be daytime in Prague, of course, but for the fan bases of both teams, it’ll be a rare weekday matinee.
In addition to the unique nature of the contest, Friday’s game will also be the coaching debut for Alain Vigneault of the Flyers. The 58-year-old was hired by Philadelphia back in April, and after a long spring and summer of preparation, he’ll finally be able to lead his charge into a meaningful game.
Joining Vigneault as debutants for their respective clubs are center Kevin Hayes of Philadelphia and the Blackhawks’ Olli Maatta. Hayes joined the Flyers via trade in early June and signed a long-term contract two weeks later, while defenseman Maattaa was sent to Chicago in a June trade with the Penguins.
Sporting News will be tracking all the action from Friday’s match-up below:
