Packers’ Kevin King had an absolutely miserable NFC championship game performance

Good news for Kevin King: After being listed as questionable with a back injury earlier in the week, the Packers defensive back managed to play in Sunday’s NFC championship game, finishing with four tackles.

Bad news for Kevin King: Uh, basically everything else that happened against the Buccaneers.

In Green Bay’s 31-26 loss, King was beat by Tampa Bay receivers, used as a surfboard on a highlight-reel run and flagged for pass interference. His bad day started in the first quarter when King mistimed his jump on a Tom Brady pass and saw the ball land in Mike Evans’ hands for a Buccaneers touchdown.

Things got worse later in the first half for King when Bucs running back Leonard Fournette met him near the goal line. Fournette blasted King with his shoulder, then rode him into the end zone to give Tampa Bay the lead.

Just before halftime, King watched Scotty Miller sprint right past him for yet another touchdown. (The Packers shouldn’t have left King on an island, but King has to know the worst possible outcome in that situation is getting torched deep down the field.)

And then there was the biggest call of the game. King got caught grabbing Tyler Johnson’s jersey on a critical third-down play in the fourth quarter, resulting in a flag for defensive pass interference. The Bucs got a fresh set of downs and ran out the clock to capture the victory and advance to Super Bowl 55.

So, just to summarize his performance in four images:

Rough. Maybe throw that game tape in the trash.
