Former Giants, Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin injures ribs, lung in bike accident

Former New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin was hospitalized for one night last weekend after a bicycle accident left him with four broken ribs, a collapsed lung and required stitches in his head.

Coughlin told ESPN another rider on a racing bike blindsided him and "(came) out of nowhere and clips the front of my bike."

The crash did not deter Coughlin from returning home before family convinced him to go to the emergency, where he underwent X-rays and CT scans; doctors told him he is looking at a four- to six-week recovery, per ESPN.

Coughlin, 73, was the first coach in Jaguars franchise history and took the team to four playoff appearances in the late 1990s. As coach of the Giants, he won two Super Bowls (2007, 2011).
