Angry Nick Kyrgios admits spitting towards Wimbledon fan and faces investigation

Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios is facing a Wimbledon investigation after admitting spitting towards fans following his five set win over Brit Paul Jubb.

Tournament bosses will meet to discuss punishing the Aussie for his behaviour during his controversial first round win on Court 3.

The wildcard, 27, got involved in a running feud with a group of spectators he claimed had been abusing him and even asked umpire Marija Cicak to throw them out.

Having sealed his 3-6, 6-1, 7-5, 7-5 triumph, Kyrgios could be seen aiming spit in the direction of those he'd clashed with during the contest.

When asked who he had targeted he said: "One of the people disrespecting me, yes.

"Yes (it was deliberate). I would not be doing that to someone who was supporting me. As soon as I won the match, I turned to him… I've been dealing with hate and negativity for a long time, so I don't feel like I owed that person anything.

"He literally came to the match to literally just, like, not even support anyone really. It was more just to stir up (trouble) and disrespect. That's fine. But if I give it back to you, then that's just how it is."

Kyrgios now faces an anxious wait to discover if Wimbledon's disciplinary chiefs decide to fine him for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

It is understood tournament officials have also launched an investigation aimed at identifying the person responsible for targeting Kyrgios with a view to banning him.
