Khabib’s comment to Sir Alex Ferguson as teetotal star rejected glass of wine

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov reportedly turned down a glass of wine from Sir Alex Ferguson – and had a message for the legendary former Manchester United boss as he did so.

Khabib was in attendance to watch Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 33-year-old was pictured with the former United boss in the luxurious executive box and admitted he even had to decline an alcoholic beverage from the legendary manager due to his religious beliefs.

Khabib told RT : “I had to explain to him [Ferguson].

“There are two things: you can be straight [with him] and say ‘no, no, no – I am Muslim, I never drink.’

“But I also told him, ‘This is not good because if I drink, I can smash all of you guys. It's not a good idea,’” he joked.

“Patrice Evra and Usain Bolt understand. Alex Ferguson asked me about wine. For him, it's good – I don't judge him.

“[Ferguson] understands because he doesn't think I should smash everybody, so he said, ‘OK, don't drink.’”

The former UFC champion posed for a picture with Ferguson and uploaded a clip of the pair speaking to Instagram.

He captioned the picture: “It was a great honor to speak with a Legend.”

Khabib uploaded more snaps from his day out at Old Trafford, where former United star Patrice Evra and the fastest man in the world Usain Bolt were also present.

The ex MMA fighter wrote: “It’s a great honor to visit this legendary stadium, by invitation of the legendary football club @manchesterunited.

“Thanks for warm welcome. I hope @cristiano and @davidbeckham wouldn’t mind that I got number 7.

“I’m not going to take a loss in this T-shirt, cause I will hang it on the wall in the frame, at most visible place in my house.”

The Russian is a Real Madrid fan and his friendship with CR7 goes back to his time as a Los Blancos player.

The Portuguese international surprisingly began Saturday’s game on the bench but was brought on early in the second half, but was unable to find the goal to give The Red Devils all three points.

That was not the only Premier League match Khabib watched over the weekend, as he also visited Anfield to watch the pulsating 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Manchester City yesterday.

He posted some videos from the game and posed for pictures in the ground, before writing on Instagram: “It was amazing atmosphere today, but the game was even better. Today I was rooting for @mancity, I just love this sport.”
