UFC president Dana White believes that Khamzat Chimaev is capable of becoming one of the best fighters in the world.

Chimaev made a major impact at Fight Island 3 as he won two fights in ten days in two different weight divisions.

The 26-year-old beat Rhys McKee in a welterweight clash with a TKO in the first round.

Earlier this month Chimaev managed to get the better of John Phillips in a middleweight fight.

White has been hugely impressed by the impact that Chimaev has made and described him as ‘special’. 

As reported by The Sun, White said: ‘The guy is unbelievable; just incredible.

‘Any guy who wants to stay active, who wants to keep fighting, I love that.

‘I just love it. He’s a guy who wants to fight and doesn’t care who it is.

Chimaev caught the eye as he won two fights in ten days in two different weight divisions

‘He just wants to stay active and to me, that’s the way guys should think.

‘He’s special. He’s a super talented guy and his confidence is through the roof.’

White feels that Chimaev’s confidence is an extremely useful asset. 

He said: ‘He truly believes he’s the best in the world.

‘His quote tonight, literally, was ‘Give me whoever, I’ll smash everybody.’ I love that mentality.’

Chimaev’s performances have seen him compared to Khabib Nurmagodev. 

During his win against McKee, Chimaev landed 68 blows while his opponent didn’t land any.
