The Nationals won the World Series, and now there are only six MLB teams without one
The Washington Nationals captured the 2019 World Series with a thrilling Game 7 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night. It was the franchise's first World Series in a history that started in Montreal in 1969 before moving to the nation's capital in 2005.
With the Nats' celebratory parade on tap, that leaves only six remaining Major League Baseball teams without a World Series title.
Here's a look at the remaining teams:
Seattle Mariners. The only remaining team to have never appeared in a World Series, the Mariners, who entered the league in 1977, are also in the longest playoff drought (18 years) of any major franchise in baseball, basketball, football or hockey.

Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays entered the league in 1998. They lost the 2008 World Series and have made it to the Division Series four times since, including this season. They have won at least 90 games in back-to-back seasons.
Colorado Rockies. Their franchise highlight has been a 2007 World Series appearance in which they were swept by the Red Sox. They also forced a Game 163 in 2018. The franchise that began in 1993 has notched five postseason berths but won only 71 games this season.
Texas Rangers. The franchise, which began as the Washington Senators in 1961 and moved to Texas in 1972, has made eight playoff appearances and won two pennants. The Rangers have made five postseason appearances in the last decade, including being just a strike away from winning it all in the 2011 World Series.
Milwaukee Brewers. In its 51 -season existence, the franchise has made six playoff appearances, including one World Series berth in 1982 when the Brewers were in the American League. The Brewers lost the 2018 NLCS to the Dodgers in seven games and the wild card game this season.
San Diego Padres. Since the franchise's beginning in 1969, the Padres have been to two World Series. But they have not reached the playoffs since 2006, enduring six seasons with at least 90 losses in that timespan.
