Group racing showcased in Sydney and Melbourne this weekend

Group racing in Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday heralds in the new racing season and Racenet has all the fields and form online.

In Sydney, Covid-19 lockdowns has resulted in the Group 2 Missile Stakes card being moved from Rosehill to Randwick which will host its fourth Saturday meeting in the past five weeks.

The Missile Stakes (1200m) is the set weights and penalties feature is the main event in Sydney while the new season three-year-olds step out in the first lead-up towards the $1 million Golden Rose late next month – the Listed Rosebud over 1100m.

A field of eight has accepted for the Missile Stakes and the field includes multiple Group 1 winner Kolding and high class mare Fasika while there’s 10 runners declared for The Rosebud.

Highly touted colt Remarque is in the field along with Group 3 winner Paulele, Pago Pago placegetter Mazu and Queensland Stakes performer Maotai.

The Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington is Australia’s other Group race on Saturday.

The time-honoured handicap is run down the famous Flemington straight and a field of 15 has been declared.

Topweight with 59kg is last year’s Victoria Derby winner Johnny Get Angry while the field also includes Caulfield Guineas placegetter Aysar and recent stakes performers The Astrologist, Banquo and King Of Hastings.

The Randwick track was rated a Good 4 at acceptance time. The rail will be in the +5m position on Saturday.
