‘Worst broken jaw I’ve ever seen’: Graphic video shows boxer’s gruesome injury

WARNING: Graphic.

Benjamin Hussain stunned commentators and fans on Thursday night when he fought through a broken jaw for five rounds before the bout was called off by the doctor.

Now the Queensland boxer has revealed the gruesome extent of his injury in a video posted to his personal Instagram account, which you can check out in the video player above.

“Soldier for pushing on so long with that! Speedy recovery,” boxer Kaye Scott replied.

“Absolute respect,” Caity Parker, another boxer, added.

“This is hands down the worst broken jaw I’ve ever seen,” MMA and boxing journalist Chisanga Malata tweeted.

The incident happened during Hussain’s bout with fellow Queenslander Ben Mahoney.

The 25-year old collected Hussain with a huge left hook in the second round and subsequently knocked his mouthguard out.

Blood then started to pour from his mouth and later replays would show that the injury was far worse than first thought as Hussain’s broken jaw was revealed.

His corner were hesitant to throw the towel in as he lasted five rounds in a brutal encounter before the doctor called the bout in the sixth round after concluding the jaw was broken.

Aussie heavyweight creates history

Boxing: Justis Huni more than lived up to the hype in his first professional bout, after he battered opponent Faiga "Django" Opelu to claim a stoppage victory in the 7th round.

“Your jaw is broken mate,” the doctor said.

“I mean it’s badly broken, we’ve got to stop it.”

“What we think we saw with his mouth did not look good,” Ben Damon added in commentary.

“We thought it might have been a cut tongue or laceration inside the mouth. But it is a broken jaw and with that being said, Benjamin Hussain has shown he’s otherworldly tough.

“He’s gone through the vast majority of this fight with what appears to be a very, very badly damaged mouth and jaw.”
