Tyson Fury admits surgery awaits on injury that could delay Oleksandr Usyk fight

After his dominant victory over Derek Chisora, Tyson Fury revealed he needs to have surgery on his right elbow.

The Gypsy King comfortably swept his long term rival aside at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, stopping him in the tenth round. Fury then proceeded to get onto the microphone and call out Oleksandr Usyk, labelling the WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO world heavyweight champion an “ugly little man”.

Fury and Usyk are expected to go head-to-head in Saudi Arabia next year, with Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk even saying “we are ready to go”. However, a spanner may have been thrown in the works as Fury reportedly needs surgery on his right elbow.

"I've got to maybe have surgery on my right elbow,” Fury said to ESPN after the fight. “I had the left one done, so I've got to have it done.

"It will take about six-to-eight weeks to heal. We'll see when we can be ready for this fight."

The WBC champion’s record has now been extended to 33-0 after the victory over Chisora. ‘Del-Boy’ showed plenty of heart, toughness, and determination, but the fight was one way traffic from the very beginning.

Nevertheless, Fury was complimentary towards his long term rival and friend, embracing him in the ring and praising him in front of the 62,000 fans in the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. "I just want to say, what a f***ing crowd! 60,000 in Tottenham, I love every single one of you people,” Fury said after taking the microphone.

“This is overwhelming, I want to say a massive thank you. I felt good, I needed some rounds, I haven't boxed since April.

“I was landing good punches. But take nothing from Del Boy, it was a pleasure to fight tonight, he is a British folk hero."
